New Delhi: On World Youth Skills Day, Vedanta, one of India’s leading energy, minerals, and technology conglomerates, announced that its skill development programs have positively impacted nearly 15 lakh people across the country in the last five years.
The initiative, deeply integrated with the Government of India’s Skill India Mission and Kaushal Bharat Abhiyaan, focuses on empowering rural communities by equipping youth with market-driven skills that enable employment and entrepreneurship.

Operating more than 200 training centres nationwide, Vedanta offers over 40 technical and non-technical trades such as solar PV installation, hospitality, sewing, forklift operation, and basic finance. These centers boast a high placement success rate of 91%, with trainees earning an average monthly salary of ₹15,000.
Vedanta’s skill development efforts are aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal 8, which advocates for decent work and economic growth. The company has set an ambitious target of skilling 25 lakh individuals by 2030 through strategic partnerships with knowledge providers and continuous program innovation.
Highlighting India’s demographic advantage, Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal remarked, “India is one of the youngest nations globally. Investing in our youth will unlock immense potential and drive global leadership in the coming decades.”

Success Stories of Skill Development Programs
Success stories from the grassroots underline the transformative power of these programs. Priyanka Kumari, trained at Zinc Kaushal Kendra in Rajasthan, secured a job in Gujarat earning ₹21,000/month, despite socioeconomic challenges. Similarly, Sabnam Parween from Jharkhand became the first girl in her village to work in the solar sector after completing a three-month residential course at Vedanta ESL Skill School.

In addition to skill development, Vedanta is advancing early childhood development through its Nand Ghar initiative, which now spans over 8,500 centres across 15 states, offering nutrition, healthcare, pre-primary education, and skill development and training for women.
Vedanta’s holistic approach to social impact reached over 68 lakh people in FY 2025 alone, with a cumulative investment of ₹429 crore across education, women empowerment, agriculture, health, and livelihoods.
